Emergency Medical Services
We are the EMS agency for the city of Summit and render aid and assistance to over 22,000 people in community free of charge, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our volunteer members are highly trained Emergency Medical Technicians who are prepared to render care for medical and traumatic emergencies. Our EMTs receive ongoing education and utilize state of the art equipment to consistently provide the high quality of care our residents deserve and expect.
The Squad provides first aid and emergency medical services at community events and large gatherings. We offer first aid and CPR classes to the public. Our speakers bureau is available to present health & safety topics to community and school groups. Our bike team can often be found patrolling street fairs and events such as the fourth of July fireworks and street fairs to quickly and efficiently access patients.
The Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad provides free transportation services for non-ambulatory Summit residents who need ambulance transport get to and from doctor appointments, rehab facilities, or hospital stays. Transport services are pre-arranged in order to secure and schedule crews.
Ongoing training and continuing education is critical for the advancement of our EMTs. The Squad building is a state recognized training facility that is used by training organizations to hold classes. CPR classes are routinely offered which are made available to the public. The Squad also works with the Summit Fire and Police departments to plan and prepare for incidents that might involve many patients.
